Fostering digital skills, active citizenship and social inclusion among social disadvantaged groups, these are some of the objectives, the DISC project aims to achieve through its activities.
In this context, partners have developed a teacher and stakeholder training aiming to prepare such stakeholders for the work in our nowadays societies characterised by always increasing complexity. The training includes the following modules:
- Cultural diversity and diversity management
- Digital Inclusion
- The Multisensory Space Methodology
- The Smart Self-assessment tool and digital citizenship
The purpose of DISC Training for teachers and other education stakeholders is to provide up-to-date and inspiring information and tools for teachers, educators, youth workers and other professionals who are interacting with a society that becomes more and more diverse and intercultural on a daily basis.
There is an increasing need for dialogue, positive encounters and also practical help that supports teachers and educators in their daily efforts to create a more sustainable, fair and empathic society.
In creating an inclusive society, with possibilities for active citizenship and without leaving anyone behind, the importance of digital skills is greatly emphasized. And, at the same time, in the midst of our hectic daily lives, we need moments of peace and serenity and spaces for dialogue, places where we can genuinely meet each other and get to know each other’s stories and especially the too often silenced narratives of migrants.
The DISC Training focuses on both of these aspects: the Multisensory Space concept as a method for social and cultural sustainability, for moments of true dialogue, reminiscence and positive empowerment, inspiring intercultural students to develop their ICT skills for employability, active citizenship and personal empowerment.
In doing so, it fosters participants’ knowledge as well as digital and intercultural skills, enabling them with the transversal capacities to interact successfully in intercultural and digital environments. The presentation of the DISC project’s two best practices, the multisensory space and the self-assessment tool, provides users with step-by-step instructions on how to implement both methodologies, hence enhancing users toolset to work with in the classroom and other educational contexts.

The developed stakeholder training will be piloted with teachers, educators and other education stakeholders in all partner countries in autumn 2021, spreading the best practices of the project and gathering valuable feedback to optimise the training contents and its design on the canvas platform. In Palermo, the course will be part of a training on inclusive education.
